Great to meet you!
Hi, I’m Nicole Hoffman. I’m a Mental Health Counselor with a passion for supporting adults, teens, and children through life’s most difficult transitions—including grief, loss, anxiety, and depression. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pace University and an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from the University at Buffalo. In addition to my clinical training, I also bring the lived experience of being a full-time mother for nearly a decade. That role shaped me into a more compassionate and patient listener, and it helps me connect with clients who are balancing the demands of family, career, identity, and self-care. I understand how overwhelming life can feel when you’re trying to hold everything together, and I strive to create a supportive space where you don’t have to do it alone.
My professional background is diverse: I’ve facilitated bereavement groups for adults, counseled children and families coping with stress and loss, and worked with individuals navigating anxiety and depression. Earlier in my career, I worked in recruiting and client services, experiences that taught me the importance of communication, collaboration, and meeting people where they are. All of these paths come together in my counseling work today, allowing me to connect with clients in a down-to-earth, supportive, and meaningful way.
A bit about my approach to therapy
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in empathy. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, mindfulness, and person-centered therapy, while also integrating relational and psychodynamic approaches. Over the past five years, I have supported clients coping with grief from death, divorce, and separation, as well as those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and stress in their personal or professional lives. My priority is to tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs and to create a space where they feel heard, supported, and empowered.
What you can expect from our first session
In our first session, I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy and what goals you hope to achieve. We’ll work together to develop a plan that feels supportive and manageable. Many of my clients find that therapy with me helps them gain clarity, learn practical coping strategies, and feel less alone in their struggles. Over time, I aim to help you build resilience, develop healthier relationships with yourself and others, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and balanced.
